A Jefferson County man was sentenced to federal prison on cocaine related charges, according to James L. Porter, Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois. 30-year old Darrain D. Bowdry of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to nearly 13 years in federal prison, with three years’ supervised release following his imprisonment, and fined $400. Bowdry had previously pleaded guilty to two counts in a federal indictment. Count 1 charged that on November 4, 2014, Bowdry knowingly and intentionally distributed cocaine. Count 2 charged that on November 4, 2014, he knowingly and intentionally distributed cocaine. The investigation in this case was conducted by the Joint Narcotics Unit of the Mount Vernon Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.
