The Kaskaskia College Music Department will present its Winter Instrumental Concert on Tuesday, March 1st at 7:30 PM in the Jane Knight Auditorium. The concert features the Kaskaskia College Concert and Jazz Band under the direction of Professor Cliff Jourdan. Concert Band Highlights include John Philip Sousa’s “Semper Fidelis”; “Mars from The Planets” by Gustav Holst; “¡Viva Grana!” by Francisco Alonso; “Sleep” from Eric Whitacre; and “Ireland: Of Legend & Lore” by Robert W. Smith. Jazz Band Highlights include “Love For Sale” by Cole Porter; “This Could Be The Start of Something Big” by Steve Allen; “One Note At A Time” by Doug Beach; “One O’Clock Jump” as recorded by the Count Basie Orchestra”; and “Basically Blues” as performed by the Buddy Rich Orchestra. The concert is free and open to the public with a reception for patrons and performers immediately following the event. This reception is made possible through the generosity of the Kaskaskia College Veteran’s Tribute Committee.
