The Nashville City Council met last night and they got word that the painting of the water clarifiers is continuing. They have finished 1 large tank, 1 small tank and the piping. They still have 1 large tank and 1 small tank to complete. The Council then approved of a first payment of $6,977.50 to Quality Assured Industrial Coatings out of Alton. In December, they approved of the project with a cost of $146,900. The Council approved of All Trash Days for Saturday, April 16th, Wednesday, April 20th and Saturday, April 23rd from 8 AM to 4 PM. Streets Superintendent Richard Schuette reported that the amount collected has been down recently, but Spring is the big one. Last year there were 150 cubic yards of trash taken in with 2.5 tons of steel for recycling. There were some small issues with the paperwork submitted to the Illinois Department of Transportation about the Motor Fuel Tax fund being used to purchase materials for road work, but it has been corrected and the bid letting is on March 29th at 2 PM at City Hall. The Treasurer’s report for January was approved and there was an update on the purchasing of the golf cart batteries. There were 10 purchased with a life expectancy of 3 years, while the rest will have a life expectancy of 5 years, that way future purchases will be staggered and not all at one time with a bigger bill.
