A new year and Washington County is starting to pile up the snow, but as the groundhog didn’t see his shadow, we might be done with accumulating snow. The precipitation report for Washington County by the City of Nashville Water Plant, showed another 3.3 inches of snow fell in February to go along with the 2 inches in January for a total of 5.3 to date. There were 5 inches of snow last February. The majority of the snow was on February 9th with an inch and on February 11th with .8 of an inch. There were also 2.24 inches of rain in February, while there were 1.38 inches last February and only .95 inches in January. Rain fell the most on February 21st with .81 inches of rain and .79 on February 24th. High temperatures were mostly in the 60s, but there were nearly equal amount of days in the 30s, so there was plenty of fluctuation during the month. The high temperature was 75 degrees on February 21st. Low temperatures were mostly in the 30s, but it did get down to the teens for 5 days. The low temperature was 11 degrees on February 13th. In February 2015, the high was 65 and the low was negative 1 degree. The average high temperature last month was 48.1 degrees, up just over 10 degrees from January. Meanwhile, the average low temperature last month was at 28.1 degrees, up 6 degrees from the previous month.
