The plan that would let people know why they were adopted advanced to the Illinois Senate.  The House approved the measure by a 114 to nothing vote on Tuesday.  Chicago Democratic Representatives Sara Feigenholtz and Ann Williams, the bill’s sponsors, say it is important for people to have access to information concerning the nature of the adoption.  Feigenholtz passed legislation a few years ago that allowed adult adoptees to access their original birth certificates.  But the lawmaker says Illinois adoption laws still don’t do enough to serve the state’s adoptees.  The leader at the Cook County office that investigates adoption cases says the plan would give adoptees answers to the questions they desperately desire.
