The Washington County Board met last night and they heard from the Supervisor of Assessment, Sharon Mewes about the new plat books.  She says they ordered 1,000 and 200 of them should be in on Friday.  They just sold the last one from 2012 a couple weeks ago.  To have the books printed, as well as 10 wall maps, it cost $16,650, but they raised just over $25,000 in advertising, less the 20 percent commission.  They will then sell the books and generate a total revenue of nearly $37,000.  So after expenses, the county should profit approximately $20,000 from these new plat books.  The county will also make some money for every electronic book and – or smart map purchased.  The Board also heard from Animal Administrator Doctor Jay Colbrook.  He reported numbers of animals in the past fiscal year.  There were 161 dogs adopted with 81 being reclaimed and 7 put to sleep.  There were 151 cats adopted with 7 put down for the year.  They experienced an income of nearly $18,000, including a $765 donation.  Colbrook says while the building is getting by, it needs some repairs, such as on the walls, water damage and rusted cages.  They are currently looking at getting bids for some of this work.
