After almost a year of prize money rolling over week after week, the Nashville American Legion Queen of Hearts drawing finally has a winner. Ron and Ellen Beckmann of Bartelso were part of a group four couples who pooled $140 to buy tickets in the drawing. Beckmann picked the queen of hearts after her his group’s ticket number 3075 was drawn. The total prize money was $377,469, and the winners will split 80 percent of that total and will each get nearly $38,000 before taxes. Ten percent of the final total goes to the American Legion, which they will use to remodel the facility. According to bar manager Dan Heggemeier, the Legion will be used to paint and make the upstairs bathrooms handicap accessible and enlarge the bar. A new stove will also go in the kitchen downstairs, and the legion will get a new icemaker. The final ten percent of the pot will be used to cover expenses and re-seed the pot for next year’s contest. Tickets for the January 11 drawing go on sale January 4.
