Area law enforcement handled several traffic incidents over the last week. On Tuesday, Nashville Police assisted the Illinois State Police with a three-car accident that included a car fire on Interstate 64 near mile marker 57. No injuries were reported in the incident. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office handled two incidents on Wednesday. In the first, the sheriff’s office assisted the Illinois State Police with a vehicle fire on I64 near the 48-mile marker. A deputy also took a report of an accident in which Melanie Kempfer of Centralia drove her vehicle off the roadway and struck a ditch near Radom. No injuries reported in either incident. On Thursday, a deputy responded to Interstate 64 for a report of a grass fire, and on Friday, the Sheriff’s Office looked into a report of an abandoned vehicle on Jimtown Road near State Route 153. A deputy performed a motorist assist on Washington County Line Rd at New Marigold Rd in Clarmin on Saturday, and the sheriff’s office, Washington County Ambulance, and Ashley Fire Department responded to Richview for a report of a medical emergency on Sunday. Also on Sunday, Nashville police observed a vehicle parked illegally in the northbound lane of Mockingbird Road. That vehicle proved to be inoperable and was towed by A&C Towing to clear the roadway.
