Nashville Middle School and held their monthly board meeting this last Thursday.  In the meeting, they seated the newly elected board members.  The three new members were Seth Swoboda, Greg Gollaher  and Danny Dlubala.  The board was also required to elect board officers and get approved.  That included Dave Engele as president, Vice-President and KSED representative Janine Pieszchalski  and Shawn Knepp voted in as Secretary.  After that, it was time for items that are on the agenda.  The board considered approving a new overdue fee police for the 2017-2018 school year, but elected to table that item until next month’s meeting.  The board approved a contract for transportation with Schmale Bus Service for next year.  The Washington County prevailing wage certificate and ordinance was approved.  6 items were in the Superintendent’s report.  That included posting for the pre-school teaching vacancy, statements of economic interest, summer work schedules, state revenue update, ECE program needs for FY-18 and the schedule for the Middle School for next year.  The pre-school teaching vacancy was posted yesterday and is now accepting applications for that.  Nancy Schmale was the former pre-school teacher but she is retiring at the end of the year.  The deadline for applying for that position has been set for May 18th.  They are hoping to have that position filled by the time of their May board meeting.  The early childhood and special education program for next year was discussed since the numbers are expected to be higher.  The limit before breaking a class is 10 people, and the school currently has 8 people signed up for next year.  There are potentially 5 individuals who could be in the special education program.  So the school is anticipating 8 to 13 students who would be in the program.  The next board meeting for Nashville Middle School is set for May 25th.
