Fiscal forecasters for the Illinois General Assembly estimate that the state and their end-of-the-year budget will be in debt by 6-billion-dollars. The report from the Commission on Government forecasting and Accountability released their estimate to the Associated Press, and it said that the state will end this fiscal year with more than 6.2-billion-dollars in the red. The fiscal year ends at the end of this month on June 30th. Last year, the state saw that number at 3.8-billion-dollars. That’s in increase in debt by 2.4-billion-dollars in one year. State Representative David McSweeney, said that Illinois is imploding and that GOP Governor Bruce Rauner needs to call legislative session daily until there is a resolution on a budget. The General Assembly ended its 3rd consecutive session without a budget deal with Rauner last week. If no action is taken for another year, the deficit could be nearly 8-billion-dollars, according to the commission.
