The St. Louis man, who was involved in a shooting that killed Carbondale musician Tim Beaty in the Easter Weekend shooting in 2016, was sentenced to 6 and ½ years in prison this past Thursday in Jackson County. The Jackson County State’s Attorney said that 23-year-old John Ingram must serve at least 85-percent of his sentence and serve a 2-year period of mandatory supervised release upon his release from prison. Back on March 27th, 2016, the Carbondale Police Department received a call from the 400 block of West Walnut Street, in regard to shots being fired. Once they arrived, they found several discharged cartridge casings from two different guns along Beveridge Street in Carbondale. One person had been shot but survived, while Beaty, who was a neighboring house at the time of the shooting, had been shot and killed. Police found out that Ingram was the one who had fired his handgun a number of times towards Beaty’s house along the 400 block of Walnut Street, then into the air multiple times. The investigation revealed that Beaty had been shot and killed by Tyler’s gun. Ingram entered a guilty plea back on March 19th of this year to an aggravated discharge of a firearm charge, for his role in the incident. Tyler was then found guilty to 1st-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm. Prison time for Tyler’s case is pending at this time.
