BLUFORD — Maxine Tucker, 99, of Bluford, Illinois, passed away at 6 a.m. May 31, 2022, at her residence in Bluford.

She was born May 20, 1923, in Ina, Illinois to the late Kirby and Nomah (Cockrum) Dawson. Maxine married Grover Tucker on March 25, 1942. They were blessed with 56 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on November 25, 1998.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Sandra Wellmaker and husband, Robert of Bluford, Illinois.

Maxine owned and operated a beauty shop for many years. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Mount Vernon. Maxine helped operate a livestock farm for several years.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois with Reverend Craig Smith and Reverend David Shores officiating. Interment will follow.

Memorials may be made in Wanda’s honor to First Free Will Baptist Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
