A woman from Grayville is sentenced to 4-years in prison, after pleading guilty in White County to helping one of the 3 men escape from a Southern Illinois jail last month. 28-year-old Carly Schmittler, of Grayville, was booked for a Class 3 felony of aiding the escape of a felon from an institution, along with a misdemeanor for concealing a fugitive. She plead guilty on Monday to that felony charge, with her misdemeanor being dismissed. Schmittler admitted to helping Justin Bray escape from the White County Jail, by coordinating where he would go after his escape and providing a vehicle for Bray. Bray was captures a few days after he and 2 other inmates, 24-year-old Zachery Shock and 61-year-old James Tipton, used a pipe to break a hole in a jail wall back on June 16th. Shock and Tipton were captured at separate locations this past weekend. Tipton was initially being held on a theft charge, while Shock has been in jail while awaiting on a trial for a 2016 shooting death of James Berkel of Salem.
