Governor Bruce Rauner signs a law, that will allow courts to take weapons away from people, who pose a threat of violence to themselves or to others. The Republican’s action on Monday now allows police officers or family members prove in court, that a person who has guns and is suffering from a mental health or another problem can have their weapons surrendered for up to 6 months. Democratic Representative Kathleen Willis, of Addison, says that her bill answers incidents, such as the February shooting in Parkland Florida, after people declare that there were warnings signs that were not deeded. Rauner also signed a law on Monday to extend the waiting period for all guns to 72-hours. So now all guns purchased must have a waiting period of 3 days. Rauner said he plans on vetoing the gun-dealer licensing bill, saying that it is a burden by red tape.
