SANDOVAL — Multiple incidents Tuesday afternoon in Sandoval resulted in Police Chief Joe Lyons placing both school buildings in Sandoval on lockdown out of an abundance of caution.

According to Lyons, his department received a report of two groups of young people having a verbal altercation when on group said the other group had a gun.

Due to the proximity of the incidents and the allegations of a firearm involved, Chief Lyons placed the schools on lockdown.

As the was speaking with one complainant in the 200 block of East Commercial, the vehicle involved in the complaint drove by and two individuals got out and started running. Lyons pursued the two individuals on foot and caught one.

Other parties involved were ultimately located at the apartment complex in Sandoval but no firearm was found and no arrests were made.

In a separate incident from the time Lyons was working the previous case, two men reportedly got out of a green truck in the parking lot of Crossroads Bar in Sandoval, had a brief physical fight and then both got back into the green truck and left.
