Salem police are continuing with their search for a subject, who is believed to be responsible for an armed robbery on Friday afternoon, at the Cash Store, which is in the strip center, west of the Salem Super Walmart. According to police, at approximately 1143am, the department received a report of a panic alarm at the store’s location, along 103 Baldidge Lane in Salem. Once an officer arrived, they verified that a robbery occurred at the store. The only employee working at the time stated that a black male, approximately 5-feet 10-inches tall, with a thin build, between 35 to 40 years old, wearing dark clothes and a ball cap, displayed a handgun and demanded money. The suspect then fled form the store in an unknown direction. Officers were able to determine later, through nearby video surveillance, that the suspect fled the store on foot to the southwest direction of the store, and ran across US Highway 50. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office and their K-9 was brought in to track the suspect, but the track ended to the south along North American Lighting. The suspect is still at large, with no injuries occurring from the incident. Police will continue with their investigation and have released a new photo of the suspect.
