The American Red Cross will be hosting multiple blood drives in the area, with the organization helping out with Hurricane Florence. They are in desperate needs of blood and platelets in order to help patients who were stuck in the storm’s path across the country. Due to the storm, nearly 200 blood drives were forced to cancel in the Southeast, resulting in about 5,200 uncollected blood and platelet donations. A Blood Drive will be held in Salem on Saturday, September 22nd from 10am to 2pm at the Salem Township Hospital and on Sunday, September 23rd from 8am to 12-noon at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic church. In Washington County, Okawville High School will host a blood drive on Tuesday, September 25th from 10am to 4pm and in Radom at St. Michaels Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 26th from 2 to 6pm. Wesclin Middle School will also host a blood drive in Clinton County from 2 to 7pm on October 1st. in order to donate, you just need to be 17-years-old or 16 with a parental consent, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health.
