Three accidents were reported this past week. on Monday, September 17th, 2 accidents were called in. at around 8:11am, officers responded to South Grand Avenue and West Lebanon Street, which involved 2 vehicles. John Malawy, of Nashville, was stopped at a stop sign and did not see a vehicle, driven by Buffy Heggemeier of Nashville, approaching from the south, as he proceeded into the intersection. Buffy attempted to avoid John’s vehicle, but was unable to. As a result, the 2 crashed. Also that Monday, a minor crash was called in. Torri Malick of Ashley had her vehicle parked in a space and went into work at Nascote. Victoria Heiman of Hoyleton later pulled into a spot next to Terri, and struck her rear-driver’s side. The last accident was on Wednesday, September 19th, which involved 1 vehicle. 40-year-old Jesse Cepeda Jr., of Okawville, lost control of his vehicle along State Route 15, near County Highway 21, and ran off the roadway. He struck a fence and eventually came to a rest in a horse pasture. Responding agencies included the Washington County Ambulance, Addieville Fire and the Okawville Police Department. Cepeda did suffer injuries from the accident and had to be taken to an area hospital.
