A man from Centralia was sentenced on Tuesday, inside the Marion County Court, to 3-years in prison, after pleading guilty to weapons charges. 23-year-old Asante Poore, of Centralia, was arrested last month, after being brought to the ground by a taser, which was fired by a Centralia officer. Central City officers responded to a load noise complaint at an apartment, along South Broadway Street, where they found an intoxicated man and her girlfriend having a verbal domestic disturbance. Poore left only, only to return later. Officers received another call, saying that a male subject was pointing a loaded gun at people. When officers returned to the scene, witnesses advised that Poore had pointed the loaded gun, which was coked, and pushed his girlfriend to the ground, before leaving the scene. He was heading eastbound towards Lion’s Park. Officers in the area were alerted, that there was an armed subject, with a description given of Poore. An officer ultimately located Poore, who was along the 300 block of North Elm Street. Poore then attempted to run away from the pursuing officer, which led to Poore being tased. He was arrested and taken into custody. A search of Poore revealed a Glock handgun, which was fully loaded, coked and had a live round inside the chamber. At the time of the arrest, Poore was on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections, after serving less than 7-month in prison from a 5-year sentence for a 2016 conviction for residential burglary.
