Nashville High School District 99 Board of Education met last night for a regular meeting. During that meeting, they approved a purchase of a new mid-bus from Southern Bus Mobility. They agreed the purchase of the new mid-bus over leasing one for a cost of $48,579. They also approved the tentative tax levy for a 4.99-percent increase. Superintendent Brad Turner announced an amendment to the school calendar this year in the spring. Since all students will be testing on April 9th, with a make up date on the 23rd, they agreed to change a couple days. They will take an entire day off on Wednesday 17th, which was originally a ½ day, and having a full day of school on the 23rd. The same amount of spring break days will be given, but the 1st day and the last day will be switched. They board also approved paying back $2,500 from the Tort Fund to the Working Cash. The board considered a new contract with their copiers, which was approved. The company Marco will pay off the district for the remainder of their contract, lasting around a year and a half, with the district getting new printers and copiers replaced by the company. NCHS will also be saving around $200 to $250 a month from the change. There was the 1st reading of the IASB policies, including some updates, announced last night. The next District 99 board of education meeting for Nashville will be on Monday, December 17th.
