Hunters in Illinois shot down 58,836 deer in the 1st shotgun season. That figure is up by over 7,000 from last year. Washington County brought in 737 deer, up by 40 from last year, while Clinton County shot 591 deer, up by 95 from last year. For other counties in our area, Jackson had 1,717, Randolph 1,637, Jefferson 1,334, Marion 1,234, Perry an even 1,000 and Franklin 961. Every county in our area shot more deer by almost 100 from the previous year. The 2nd shotgun season will take place on Thursday, November 29th through Sunday, December 2nd. Muzzleloader season is December 7th through the 9th, late winter antlerless-only season in select country December 27th through the 30th and archery season continues back up through January 20th, excluding November 29th to December 2nd for the 2nd shotgun season.
