A man from Murphysboro is sentenced to 18 months in prison, after being charged with a domestic battery in Jackson County. The Jackson County State’s Attorney announced that back on October 11th of last year, eyewitnesses reported to police that they witnessed 21-year-old Logan Huppert strike his girlfriend in the face multiple times. Carbondale Police were able to locate Huppert a short time later with the victim. Huppert ended up pleading guilty to the domestic battery charge, which was a Class 4 felony, due to having a prior conviction for domestic battery back in September of this year. Once he is released from prison from his year and a half sentence, he will have to serve a 4-year period of mandatory supervised release. The investigation was conducted by the Carbondale Police Department, with help from an assistant State Attorney for the prosecution in the case.
