The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for our area, from 5pm tonight until 6am on Wednesday. Snow is expected to throughout our area, with a mixture of freezing rain late evening and during the overnight hours. Temperatures will warm above freezing from east to west, bringing along freezing rain, which will end at around 6am tomorrow. Total snow accumulations should be around 2 inches, with ice accumulations up to 1/10th of an inch. Motorists should plan on slippery road conditions and hazardous traveling, that could potentially impact Tuesday evening commutes. A winter Weather Advisory is issued for a variety of winter weather conditions, which can include snow, blowing snow, sleet, freezing drizzle or rain. It only takes a small amount of wintery precipitations to make roads, bridges, sidewalks and parking lots icy and dangerous. It will be often difficult to tell whether or not ice begins to form. All motorists should be cautious while driving during possible winter weather of snow and ice. For updates on the latest road conditions, visit gettingaroundillinois.com.
