A Mt. Vernon man was sentenced on Wednesday to 7-years in prison, after pleading guilty in Jefferson County to the lesser of 2 charges that were against him.  The charges were in regard to a shooting incident back in 2017, that sent 2 people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  26-year-old Karim McGee was arrested and charged back in 2017 to a shooting incident in Mt. Vernon.  Officers received the 2nd, of what would eventually be 3 calls that evening, coming in just after 10pm on October 2nd, 2017, from the area of 23rd and Conger Streets in Mt. Vernon, where 2 people were shot.  Investigators eventually found evidence at the scene, along with a firearm, narcotics, and cash.  Both victims had to be treated at an area hospital.  McGee was then arrested the following day, and charged with a Class 1 felony of aggravated discharge of a firearm at an occupied structure of vehicle, and a Class 2 felony for being a felon in possession of a firearm.  He pled guilty to his Class 2 felony charge, and was sentenced to 7 years in prison, while being given credit for the 92 days he has already served in jail.
