According to the Perry County Sheriff’s Department, a 27-year old Pinckneyville man was airlifted yesterday afternoon after he was involved in a train versus truck accident at the intersection of Denny and Tanglefoot Roads.  Jeremy Nehrkorn was airlifted from the scene to a Saint Louis hospital for treatment of major injuries he suffered in the accident.  Unconfirmed reports say Nehrkorn was ejected from the vehicle and suffered severe head and facial trauma.  A preliminary investigation indicates he was northbound Monday in a pickup truck on Denny Road when at approximately 1:35 PM, he was involved in an accident with a southeast bound Canadian National train going from Saint Louis to DuQuoin.  An investigation is continuing into the incident.
