The unemployment figures from the Illinois Department of Employment Security, Economic Information and Analysis Division came out last week.  In that report, Illinois saw their unemployment rate stay steady last month at 4.4-percent, with the united states number staying the same too, which is at 3.6-percent.  In our area, the lowest is once again Washington County with a figure of 2.8-percent, with Clinton County this month being at 3.5-percent.  The rest of the counties in our area goes as followed, Randolph 3.7-percent, Jackson 3.9, St. Clair 4.6, Marion 4.6, Jefferson 4.8-percent, Perry 5.4 and Franklin county the highest in our area at 5.5-percent unemployed.  Washington and Clinton Counties are again ranked in the top 5 with the lowest unemployment figures.  Brown County was the lowest in unemployment at 2.6-percent, Washington 2nd at 2.8, Du Page 3rd at 2.9, Monroe 4th at 3.1 and Clinton 5th in the state at 3.2-percent.  The top 5 highest unemployment numbers goes as followed… 5th highest Fulton and Alexander at 5.9, Johnson 4th 6.4, Hardin county 6.7 and in 3rd, 2nd highest was Pulaski county at 6.9-percent, and Stark county was the lone county in Illinois with an unemployment rate over 7, with Stark getting 7.2.
