Multiple agencies responded to a structure fire in Mt. Vernon, along the 500 block of Park Avenue, just after midnight on Thursday.  Responding agencies arrived to the call at around 1214am, where a structure was fully engulfed in flames.  Once they arrived, firefighters noted that heavy fire was coming from the back of the home, with flames quickly working their way up to the roof.  Responding agencies included the Jefferson Rural Fire Protection District, Mt. Vernon Fire Department, and help from the Waltonville and Woodlawn Fire District.  Ameren was also called to the scene to disconnect power from the residence, since power lines were sparking.  A fire investigator was requested to the scene as well, since the fire was rekindled.  The home was reported to be owned by Linda Lankford, of Centralia, with the home being considered a complete loss.
