Tommy Lee Johnson, 86, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 7:50 am Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Axiom Health Care in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Tommy was born July 5, 1938 in  to Thomas Leon Johnson  and Amy Nadine (Warren) Johnson. Tommy married Fay (Williamson) on June 28, 1980 in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

Tommy is survived by Stepson, Walter Brent Garrison and wife Janet of Woodlawn, Illinois; & Step Grandson, Brent Michael Garrison & wife Jill of Mount Vernon, Illinois.

Tommy  was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Leon Johnson, mother, Amy Nadine (Warren) Johnson, first wife, Becky Johnson, & second wife, Fay Johnson.

Tommy served in the Merchant Marines circling the globe twice aboard the Herbert S. Hoover. He also was a great hair stylist who owned and operated The Hairdressers in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

A Greeting of family and friends will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 11 AM to 12 PM at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Noon at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Dr. Ryan Burge officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Tommy ‘s honor to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
