The Nashville Grade School Board of Education met last night and discussed the issue about Hoyleton’s decreasing enrollment.  They met earlier this month, walked through the building and discussed the issues and possible merging of schools.  The Board approved a feasibility study with Dr. Nick Osborne on Hoyleton students coming to Nashville.  The cost is $7,500 and it will be split with Hoyleton.  Brink has some concerns though and thus the importance of the study, as he is concerned about the long term, as there are incentives and funding for the reorganizing to offset the costs, but after those incentives are done that he is concerned about losing state aid and the study should explain this.  He said Nashville Grade School could absorb the Hoyleton students.  The study should be done during the summer and it is only between Nashville and Hoyleton, but Hoyleton has also been in discussion with Irvington Grade School.  The Regional Office of Education will also be involved, but each school’s Board of Education can make the decisions on dissolving one school and having the other school take in the students.  This is all just discussion at this point and Brink says the study may recommend that Hoyleton not take any action and remain open.
