Cecil Wayne Haynes, 78, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 7:45 am July 3, 2025 at Nature Trail Health Care in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born May 14, 1947 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Taft and Fern (Hamburger) Haynes.

Cecil is survived by his brothers, Taft David Haynes of Bloomington, Illinois and Donnie Haynes of Mount Vernon, Illinois; sisters, Sue Harvey and husband, Steve of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Lisa Schaefer of Texas; nephews, Justin Bryson, Jonathan Bryson, Jeremy Haynes, and Joshua Haynes; niece, Aaron Bethard and husband, Eric; special friend, Sue Coleman; and many friends at Rose Lane Apartments.

In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by his brother, James Haynes; sister, Patricia Timmelcoff; infant sister, Janice Haynes; and nephews, Brian Shawn Johnson, Robert Lee Johnson, and Matthew Johnson.

Cecil loved old comic books, movies, old cars, and loved feeding all the stray cats around town. He will be dearly missed.

A Graveside service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be held at Egbert Cemetery in Bluford, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Cecil’s honor to the charity of the donor’s choice.
