Delorous Mae “Dee” Tackett, age 87 of Salem, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Deaconess Illinois Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.

Delorous was born on July 27, 1938, in Cisne, Illinois, the daughter of Johnnie and Edna (McGrew) Jones.  She married Donald Tackett on October 19, 1957, in Decatur, Illinois and together they shared 67 years united in marriage.

Survivors include her husband, Donald of Salem; two daughters, Dianna Woods of Mt Vernon; Denise Cato and Don of Red Oak, Texas; Grandchildren: Travis Woods and wife Lacey, Alexandria Mosley and husband Ryan, Kelsie Keathley and husband Zack, Evan Cato; great grandchildren, Easton Hammett, Nolan Mosley, Emma Rae Mosley, Astrid Woods; and a brother, Paul Dean Jones and Nancy of Villa Grove, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Edna; a son, Van Aaron Tackett; and brothers, Charles and Lyle Eugene Jones.

Delorous worked as a switchboard operator and later she worked on an assembly line at General Electric.   In her down time, she enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, crocheting, and quilting.  She owned Dee’s Ceramic shop where she taught ceramics.

Private graveside services for Delorous Tackett will be held at Paradise Cemetery in Salem.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and will be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences and memories can be left at www.CrouseFH.com.
