Gerald Page Campbell, affectionately known as “Hootie” age 69, of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois surrounded by his family.

Gerald was born on May 27, 1956, in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of Bobby P. and Faye (Sparks) Campbell.

Survivors include his brothers, Daryl Campbell and wife Pam of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and David Campbell and wife Angie of Centralia; nieces and nephews, Ashley Moore, Page Gray and husband Jesse, and Blake Campbell and wife Sarah; great nieces and nephews, Rylee Moore, Kylee Moore, Mallory Gray, Alayna Grace Campbell, and Alden Reid Campbell; special friends, Ronnie Sappenfield, Jeff Angles, Keith Meredith; neighbors, Ilesa and Tom Brough; along with many friends from trivia nights.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby and Faye, a brother, Keith Allen Campbell; and two nephews, Shane Campbell and Ed Moore.

Gerald was a devoted member of the Odin First Baptist Church.   He worked at World Color Press in Salem from 1977 until 2001 and then went to work at North American Lighting in 2003 and worked there until his retirement in 2021.   Gerald was a boxing fan; he enjoyed comic books and attending trivia nights with friends.   He had an uncanny ability with numbers.   Gerald was a great friend to many and never had a bad word to say about anyone.

Funeral services for Gerald Campbell will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Roger Lipe officiating.   Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery in Salem.  There will be a time of visitation from 11:00 a.m.  until the time of the service.  Memorials can be made to the Odin First Baptist Church and will be received at Crouse Funeral Home.  Online condolences and memories can be left at www.CrouseFH.com.
