There was an accident Tuesday afternoon shortly after 12 o’clock that resulted in a fatality in Washington County.  According to the Washington County Coroner’s office, the accident occurred at State Route 177 and Covington Road near Addieville at the stop.  79-year old Dorothea J. Tielemann of Nashville, was pronounced dead at the scene of a 2 vehicle accident at 12:59 PM by Coroner Mark Styninger.  She was the restrained driver of a vehicle which appeared to be traveling north on the Covington Road or County Highway 27, when it ran through a stop sign and struck a the side of a west bound semi-tractor trailer truck driven by 34-year old Bret Schuetz of New Baden, who was uninjured.  He husband, 81-year old Wilbert Tielemann, was a passenger in the car and was transported by helicopter to Saint Louis University Hospital.  The trailer of the truck caught fire as a result of the accident, but Schuetz was able to disconnect the truck from the trailer.  Toxicology testing will be performed by Coroner Styninger.  The accident is still under investigation.
