The Nashville High School music program is 6th in the state in Class B.  This is after the organizational contest held by the Illinois High School Association on Saturday throughout the state.  They scored 576 points through solo, ensemble, jazz choir and bands, as well as full or mixed choirs and concert bands and orchestras in the past couple of months.  Their 6th place is out of 68 schools in their class, but they placed 16th overall out of 383 schools competing statewide, including schools much bigger than Nashville.  Last year NCHS was 4th, while 5th the year before that.  In the weekend’s performances at Nashville High School, the Mixed Choir received Ones, while also receiving 2 perfect scores.  The Jazz Choir received Ones, as well.  The Concert Band received Ones with 1 perfect score and the Jazz Band received Ones.  There are 3 judges for each category.  Other local music programs competing include Okawville in Class D and they are in 11th place with Ones in Choir and Twos in Band this weekend.  Carlyle performed and received Twos in Band with Ones in Choir.  They are 23rd in Class B.  Mount Vernon performed in Nashville as well and they are 14th overall in Class A.  Their Mixed Choir, Symphonic Band and Orchestra all received Ones.  Other schools competing in Class B, but not at Nashville included Pinckneyville in 51st, Breese Central in 56th and Mater Dei in 61st place.
