The Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois announce that eight delegates and four alternate delegates have been selected to attend Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.’s 2014 National Council Session/53rd Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah in October, including several from the listening area. GSSI’s national convention delegates will join Girl Scout volunteers from across America to conduct the business of the Girl Scout Movement and will engage in important strategic conversations about the future of Girl Scouting. Delegates include Erika Hankins of Nashville, who has been a member for 17 years, is the co-founder of the Ohio Wesleyan University Campus Girl Scouts and is a former delegate for Girl Scouts of Shagbark Council, Ruthie Alexander of Mount Vernon, Caroline Stewart and Christine Stewart, both of Belleville, as well as Dixie Travelstead of DuQuoin. This year’s national convention theme is: Discover, Connect, Take Action…Girls Change the World.
