The voting is over and thanks to you fans, the Nashville Hornettes girls’ sports program is the best in region 4, which covered 7 states, in the USA Today poll looking for a national winner.  It was neck and neck for most of yesterday morning, but Nashville pulled away in the late morning to win 47,209 votes to 43,779 for Grosse Point South in Michigan.  Over 20,000 votes were tallied for the Hornettes after we ran the story at 7 AM.  Now comes the hard part, the run for the national title, which begins at 11 AM today.  Vote at contest.usatodayhss.com.  Vote as many times as you can.  Nashville takes on 7 other regional winners and 2 at large schools.  The contest runs through May 30th, but don’t wait until the last day, vote soon and keep voting.  Nashville was 5th overall in the entire nation in this latest round, as a school in Colorado had nearly 99,000 votes, while the runner up had over 81,000.  A school in New Jersey and one in Pennsylvania both had over 59,000 votes.
