The Washington County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 4 at the Washington County Courthouse. The hearing will focus on reviewing the county’s comprehensive plan, an advisory document that is designed to express the wishes of the community with regard to growth and development. The comprehensive plan will also set planning guidelines for the next 20 years, and will attempt to address the fact that Washington County, like many rural areas, is losing many in the 18 to 30 age demographic. Following the hearing, there will be a 30-day comment period for public input. The plan is advisory in nature and is designed to help guide decisions, not regulate policy.
