The West Washington County District 10 School Board met last Thursday, and following a hearing, approved the budget for the coming school year. Superintendent Scott Fuhrhop said the budget as presented was balanced.

“In the education fund, we’re deficit spending by $55,000, but the rest of that was made up in gains from the other funds, so it’s a balanced budget altogether,” said Fuhrhop.
In personnel matters, the board hired Cameron Obermeier as junior varsity girls basketball coach, Taylor Keller as the fifth and sixth grade boys basketball coach, and Darci Siliven was hired full-time at Okawville Grade School. “We hired Darci Siliven from half-time EC to full time because of our numbers,” said Fuhrhop. “We’re at 11 now, so we had to go full time on that.”
The board also approved the Application for School Recognition and the Teacher and Administration Salary and Benefits Report as required by the Illinois State Board of Education. The next meeting is scheduled for October 27.
