Flood warning continue to be in effect in center and southern Illinois areas after a weekend where some rainfall was as much as 10 inches. A disaster proclamation was signed by Jackson County Board Chairman John Rendleman on Tuesday. Many local officials are worried and concerned that the river levels will continue to rise this week. Also, having many road closing is a concern with the high-water levels. Union County Emergency Management coordinator Dana Pearson, says officials are worried for more rain, which is in the forecast this week. They are concerned of the extra rain coming upstream along the Mississippi River. Southern Illinois University in Carbondale saw one of their housing units flood too. Nearly 180 students had to be relocated for the remainder of the semester after the unit got up to 12 inches of flooding on its 1st floor.
