The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded to 20 calls this past week. Last Monday May 15th, Deputies and Nashville Police Officers were called to State Route 127, just south of Nashville, with a report of a right occurring outside of their vehicles. Once officers arrived, no sign of a fight was seen. The parties were asked to head back to where they were going, which was Carbondale. On Wednesday May 17th, deputies responded to Centralia for a report of suspicious activity in the area. Officers arrested the suspected man. 56-year-old David Wayne Mathis of Centralia was arrested in connection for discharging a firearm recklessly. On Thursday, a domestic battery case was conducted by deputies. They arrested 47-year-old Charles Phillips and 43-year-old Sherry Phillips, both of Nashville, in connection to domestic battery. A missing person from St. Clair County was found in Okawville by Sheriff’s Deputies this last Saturday on Waterworks Road. At 9pm on Saturday, Deputies and Nashville PD Officers were called to help with a 1-vehicle crash. The vehicle was in a ditch on State Route 15 near Madison Road. The vehicle was successfully pulled out and no injuries were reported. Also on Saturday, 31-year-old Andrew Straughter of Hoyleton was arrested for failure to appear and was arrested on his Washington County Warrant.
