State officials say that hunters in Illinois harvested a preliminary total of over 147,500 deer during this past 2017-2018 archery and firearm seasons. That number is slightly higher than last years totals, which was at around 144,300. Data shows that hunters took 44-percent does and 56-percent male’s. Archer and firearm seasons ended back on January 14th. Hunters took about 80,000 deer during the traditional firearm season, up by 400 from last years 79,600 number. Archery season saw in increase of 6,500, with 58,000 deer this year, compared to 53,500 last year. The highest harvests in the state was in Fulton and Pike counties, who saw roughly 4,000 deer in each county. Youth season saw a drop from last year by nearly 900, with this year killing 2,400 deer compared to 3,300 last year.
