A Centralia man was arrested on Saturday afternoon, after he allegedly held a female hostage. 25-year-old Keith Gregg Jr. of Centralia was arrested for alleged aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery, unlawful restraint and interfering with a report of domestic violence. Police received a report at around 1215pm on Saturday, of a mal subject holding a female victim hostage. The male subject reportedly had a knife and pepper spray and apparently held the victim against her will since Friday night. Police also had information that the suspect had poured a flammable substance on the curtains of the residence and threated to harm the female by lighting the apartment on fire if police were called. Officers responded to the scene and evacuated nearby residences. The Centralia Fire Department and the Lifestar Ambulance were nearby throughout the entire incident. The Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System Special Response Team was then contacted for assistance. At around 245, Gregg was taken into custody. The female received minor injuries but did not seek medical treatment. Gregg pleaded guilty on Tuesday, February 27th, inside the Marion County Court, to an earlier charge of misdemeanor domestic battery and was sentenced to 2-years of probation and 28 days in jail, with credit for the 28 days already served.
