Southern Illinois law enforcement would like to announce that there is no secret pizza code to alert police, if you are in danger. The code has become popular due to memes on social media in recent weeks. The Carbondale Police Department posted on Facebook on Tuesday, that if you are in need of police help, just call them. If you are unable to talk to them directly, due to certain circumstances, leave the line open and a team will use information they hear to get you help. They warn that calling 911 and asking to order a pepperoni pizza would likely be viewed as a prank call, so the officers would not respond. They also remind citizens that calling 911 on your cell phone does not immediately tell them where you are, so if you can only say one thing, make it the address that you are located or heading.
