A trial date is set for a Harrisburg doctor, who is accused of murdering his wife and burning her remains 2 years ago. Brian Burns will have his trial begin on September 19th, which includes a pretrial conference on Friday at the Saline County Court. There have been delays on a date for Burns to stand for his trial, but due to various circumstances, they are finding it difficult to change the venue. This is due to media contamination of a jury pool and since in Burns’ trial, he allegedly colluded with his cellmate to kidnap then State’s Attorney Mike Henshaw, and that would have to happen 1st before his case in the murder trial. The jury convicted Burns of attempted kidnapping last May, but before the sentencing occurred, Burns announced that he was firing his 1st attorney in the case. This was because they no longer agreed about his defense. He hired a new attorney to represent him and then he was able to start his prison sentence on the 1st trial. He was sentenced to 20-years in prison back in January. His new attorney is currently on the fences as to whether he want to meet for the September trial date. There are currently motions to be filed with one of those potentially asking for a change on venue once again. He feels that Burns will not get a fair trial in Saline County. Burns is facing 1st-degree murder charges and concealment of a death, in the case. He is accused of murdering his wife Carla Burns and burning her remains 2 years ago.
