There were 5 accidents that were reported in our area this past week. The 1st one was on Tuesday, June 5th, where 47-year-old Jaki Martens of Venedy struck a deer with her vehicle in rural Okawville. No injuries were reported and her vehicle was the only one involved. Also last Tuesday, a 2-vehicle accident was reported in Nashville. Velincia Boswell of Carbondale was unable to stop in time while at a red light along South Mill Street, at East St. Louis Street, and rear-ended William Dozier of Carterville. No visible damage was shown on either vehicle, with both parties advising that they did not want to have a state traffic crash report. Velincia was issued a citation for operating an uninsured vehicle as a result of the crash. On Friday, June 8th, there were 2 accidents reported. The 1st one was at around 1240pm along State Route 127 at the McDonalds Parking Lot, where Paige Anderson of Tennessee was hit by David Goulf of Anna. David was backing out of a parking spot, when the vehicles collided. A crash report was completed at the scene. Also last Friday, a single-vehicle accident was reported in rural Oakdale. 27-year-old Zachary Galle of Marissa exited the roadway, in order to miss a deer, and rolled over into a ditch. The driver was uninjured from the accident. The last crash was on Saturday, June 9th, this time along Interstate 64. 28-year-old Kathleen Corbin of Kentucky was heading west-bound at mile marker 37, when she lost control of her vehicle, due to wet road conditions, and traveled off of the roadway. No injuries were reported from the accident.
