A traffic stop early on Sunday morning leads to the arrest of 2 Centralia men, in regard to weapons charges. According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle, driven by 25-year-old Denzel McChristian, was stopped for speeding on Sunday morning, while traveling along Route 161, near Bell Club Road. The deputy reportedly smelled cannabis while the vehicle was stopped and asked McChristian and his 26-year-old passenger Shandre Pickett if they had any illegal drugs. The two men reportedly told the officer they had a small amount of cannabis on them, but after the K-9 alerted the vehicle, a search was conducted. The officer found loaded weapons underneath both the driver and passenger seats. One of the firearms was reported stolen back in May, from a location in Centralia. Approximately 17 grams of cannabis was also discovered in a backpack, that was located in the back seat. Both McChristian and Pickett were then arrested on alleged possession of a stolen firearm, possession of between 10 to 30 grams of cannabis and possession of a weapon without a proper FOID card.
