3. Federal prosecutors say that a suburban man from Chicago has plead guilty to trying to illegally export over 20 guns and ammunition to Haiti. On Friday, 45-year-old Patrick Germain, of Evanston, entered the plea last week in federal court in Chicago, where he faces a maximum sentence of 10-years in prison. He will be having his official sentencing on January 29th, 2019. A plea agreement says that Germain purchased 16 handguns, 5 shot guns, a rifle and ammunition from dealers in Illinois back in June 2016. It also says that Germain places the guns and ammunition in a plywood container, which was hidden inside of a cargo van. The van was then going to be delivered to a shipping company in Miami. Law enforcement were able to seize the weapons, before it could be transported to Haiti.
