A man from Kansas pleads guilty to firing shots at a Carbondale police officer, during a chase in July of 2016. Alex Karcher, of Kansas, was charged with firing several shots at Carbondale Officer Trey Harris, with the officer suffering a wound to his eye, and causing him to lose his vision. Authorities say that Harris was among multiple officers chasing after Karcher, who was having a dispute over 15 pounds of marijuana. Karcher was eventually arrested and charged. The Jackson County State’s Attorney stated that Karcher officially plead guilty last week to aggravated discharge of a firearm and a conspiracy to deliver a substance containing cannabis. A sentence date has not been set yet at this time, but he will remain at the Jackson County Jail until that date is set.
