After almost 3 months following his arrest on felony child sex offenses, a man from Wamac was informed by the Washington County court that he was unable to hire an attorney. Henry Michael Wolenhaupt, age 69 of Wamac, was arrested back in August and charged with 2 Class 1 felony counts of criminal sexual assault to a family member under 18-years-old and 3 Class 2 felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse to a family member under 18. Following his arrest in August, Wolenhaupt plead not guilty to the charges against him and has since been searching for an attorney. The case has been delayed multiple times, since the counsel cannot continue until he has a defense attorney. As of Tuesday, the judge ordered an updated affidavit of assets and liabilities on the case, which will be completed before the next court hearing on December 13th. Updated financial figures could make Wolenhaupt eligible to have a public defender appointed to his case.
