The Nashville City Council met last night and got a quarterly report from Jeff Haarman of Affordable Gas & Electric, the company that brokered the aggregate electric rates for many communities in southern Illinois before the election in April.  The winning bidder was Homefield Energy at a 24 month fixed rate of .04194 cents per kilowatt per hour.  There were 28 communities that approved it then and they have another 50 plus voting next election, including some from Washington County.  In Nashville, there are 1,253 eligible residents with some already in a contract with some other company.  160 opted out of the aggregation program, which is about 87 percent being with the program, which Haarman says is above the average of 83 percent.  A.C.E. is also working with the Nashville Chamber of Commerce to get businesses signed up.  Haarman did say telemarketers are still out there trying to get people to sign up at a rate that is not what they think it is.  He says if someone was switched and realize it was not what they wanted, contact city hall and they will direct the call to the proper person.
